cost, however: only projects that fit the tight mold of an automated
pipeline or a high-volume machine can be easily contracted out and
anything small or complex has to be handled in-house. At the same

equipment costs and take advantage of the deep pool of talent

individual labs with our Contract Lab Services. We offer a “Low

there are no minimum volumes or strict parameters.

our Genotyping Services, we rely on the tried
and true RFLP method and pass on our lower staff costs to you, with
competitive prices without the thousand sample minimum some firms
require. Our Plasmid Services don’t bind you to a
proprietary
plasmid or design process - each is a work of art and made to your
specifications, with a plasmid of your choice amplified to any
quantity. Our services go beyond the traditional contract
projects,
however, with open-ended special projects. Delphi provides the
support

This division of DHS provides contract
laboratory research. We offer biochemistry and molecular biology
research linked with strong bioinformatics capabilities to
international biotechnology and research organizations worldwide.
Our
offices in Portland, Oregon and our main research facilities in
Bangkok, Thailand allow us to facilitate U.S. researchers and
biotechnology companies in the early stages of their development at
costs that are a half to a third of what similar contract or
company-run services would cost in the U.S. This is all performed
with no degradation in quality or professionalism and with constant
regard to intellectual property protection and confidentiality.
How
We Work
We offer
our services on either a
project or a permanent basis, wherein our client contracts with us to
perform a specific project or establish a permanent lab-space with us
and pursue a number of projects.
Each lab-space, consisting of wet-lab
areas, offices and the associated lab technicians, is equipped with the
basic array of molecular biology equipment and can be specialized to
the client’s specifications.
Additionally, our lab-spaces share core
facilities, avoiding the need to purchase rarely used equipment.
Video conferencing systems at both the
group level for meetings and the individual level for private
discussions allow clients to either operate their labs directly or to
consult with specialists in our main office who can then plan and setup
the clients’ projects.
In all cases where desired, the client
can be charged for research performed as a service from an American
service company, which avoids certain restrictions imposed on grants
from the government or other organizations.

time spent in administrative support, personnel management, supply and
other less desired support services to optimize your research and
scientific investment budget and the time of your key research and

The
following situations are the main
ones where the option of our company’s service should be considered:
Clinicians seeking to do research: A
number of clinicians are able to attract grants and, through their
patients, have a wide variety of research avenues available to them.
Currently, they generally setup a lab nearby but their time
constraints are such that they meet only weekly to supervise the
research. Delphi caters to both clinicians setting up their first
lab on limited funds or for those wishing to expand their facilities
while allowing those same meetings by video conference.
Established laboratories that need to
expand: Many laboratories have the resources to expand but are in such
crowded and high-priced areas that simply adding on lab space is not an
option. Similarly, finding personnel can be problematic.
Delphi can provide an addition to this type of lab, performing
one set of functions while the US lab focuses on others.
Occasional Lab Users: A number of
researchers focus mainly on bioinformatics and have only the occasional
need of biological validation. Their training is often not in lab
work and their facilities may be completely separate from a lab.
For these individuals, Delphi offers an easy and affordable way
to do the small amount of lab work they need done without the hassle of
actually running a lab. Additionally, Delphi offers support from
local programmers to speed development on new software.
Small Companies: Many companies in
the US have new technologies or innovations, but are strapped for cash
and cannot afford the high price of setting up and maintaining a lab
locally. We can perform whatever research is necessary at a
